چکیده

This research deals the morphometric characteristics of Al-Khoser river basin, which is located north Mosul, using GIS software to create a database for drainage basin and convert these data into digital maps that describe impact its natural characteristics. Digital elevation model (DEM) was used construct bounds valley streams network, as well determine parameters series special mathematical equations after relating them basin's The characterized by high relief ratio (17.23) m/km, this can be attributed an increase in distance between highest point reached (1238) meters lowest (215) meters. And reduction roughness density )2.55( )2.5( km/km2, respectively. Different parts have different structural conditions types rocks. Increased erosion activity evidence geomorphological activity. It has been observed duration, strength, intensity rain falls on changes from source estuary. value form factor (0.31), indicating shape elongated, leads loss huge quantities water throughout long runoff period through evaporation leakage, hence reducing likelihood flooding. study suggested building few dams river's tributaries store rainwater use it irrigate agricultural land.
